Our organization is Ukraine Peacekeepers Veterans Association. Our organization very young: solution about it creation was accepted on October 24, 1997.

- Ukraine has been participating in the UN peacekeeping operations for 5 years since 1992 with over 7,500 officers and men who have served under the UN banner in former Yugoslavia, Tadzhikistan, Guatemala, Lebanon, Angola and Kuwait.
  Ukraine has played an important role in UN peacekeeping activities, 18 Ukrainians peacekeepers have died «in the service of peace», more then 50 peacekeepers was injured.
  Organizational Committee working on creation of the Ukrainian Peacekeepers Veteran Association. The first organizational meeting of the Association as well as celebration of the UN anniversary took place on October 24, 1997 in Kyiv. The meeting was attended by 100 peacekeeping veterans from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Lviv, Dnipropetrovsk and other cities of Ukraine.
  Associations members include serving and retried Ukrainian military, Police and civilian veterans of United Nations peacekeeping missions and other non-UN missions established under UN resolutions.
  Management bodies were elected at the meeting and within the we are going to legalize our organization.
  Organizational Committee of Ukrainian Peacekeepers Veteran’s Association participated in many related ceremony throughout the year including All - World Peace Day, UNV - day and other.
  Organizational Committee of Ukrainian Peacekeepers Veteran’s Association participated in presentation delivered to the cadets of the Army College in Kyiv on October 26, 1997 dedicated to the 52d anniversary of the UN. Besides we have reached an agreement to set up a permanent exhibitions in the Kyiv Officers Club and the Armed Forces Museum on participation of the Ukrainians in the UN peacekeeping missions.
  On December 6, 1997 our veteran peacekeepers hade participate in the official celebration of the 6th anniversary of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. On December 7 we hade a meeting with the officers and men of the General Staff Support Brigade and will tell them about Ukraine's participation in the UN peacekeeping operations.
  We are planning to set up our Web server soon and streamline communication with international and national NGO’s, associations of UN veterans in the world and other foreign partners.
  Unfortunately the situation in the world is not changing drastically and the wars and conflicts are still taking away lives of more and more people. In order to avoid it in the future, our cooperation at civilian level could be of the great importance to stabilizes the situation in Ukraine as well as in the other countries.
  Organizational Committee of Ukrainian Peacekeepers Veteran’s Association have close contact with Soldiers of Peace International Association (c. Leon, France), Canadian Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping . And we planed to joined in Soldiers of Peace International Association and work to organize United Nations Association in Ukrainian (UNA-Ukraine).
